Gordon Parks Academy hosted the Air Capital Showdown at Century II, uniting schools from eight states and Canada for hands-on tech learning and innovation.

WPS shares update on safety improvements being installed in schools

Superintendent Kelly Bielefeld, Safety and Environmental Services Director Terri Moses and Hamilton principal Chad Cushenbery shared updates on recent facility investments that strengthen the security of our schools. Hamilton is one of five schools that received a new secured entrance this summer, marking the completion of districtwide upgrades to ensure every WPS school has a protected and welcoming entryway.

Cut scores are changing for 2025 state assessments

The state of Kansas is changing the state assessment cut scores because the scores didn’t tell the whole story about what students know and are able to do, and many who were labeled “not proficient” were excelling.

The Wichita Public Schools’ official student enrollment for the 25-26 school year is 45,075 students.
